Bad advice, a bottle opener, especially one with a knife blade may be carried in check-in luggage, but definitely not in carry-on luggage. The same with scissors, sharps or items that could be used as weapons. Some countries require a passenger to have a prior approval to import a knife into a country, irrespective of whether it has a bottle opener attached or not.

I had a carryon taken and checked thru to baggage claim from Atlanta to Port-au-Prince Haiti. Boarded the flight when it was almost full, no room overhead. Oh, and someone else was in the seat the airline had assigned to me. Lots of confusion! Unfortunately, i forgot that my wallet and cash were in the bag. Cash disappeared as did cash that was inside the bag. Maybe 200USD? Credit cards etc were not taken! Lesson learned? I really wasn't upset. Re: Duty Free shopping We were flying back from Greece with a connection in Boston. We had purchased some liquids at Duty Free in Athens, but when we went through security for the domestic flight, the Duty Free items were confiscated because they were over the TSA limit for liquids. It did not matter to the agents that they were still in a sealed Duty Free bag. Don't buy liquids at Duty Free if you have a domestic connecting flight!

Let others go ahead of you. I had an agent take my LV handbag off the conveyer turn his back to me, and rifle through it while constantly looking over his shoulders to see if I was still there. It is the only way to travel. Packing cubes are for amateurs who don’t know about these Ziploc bags and for the companies that sell packing cubes to the foolish masses nobody else uses them.

Everything of value goes into my checked bag,i don't wear belts with metal when traveling,so the only thing that goes into the bin is a jacket if i am wearing one...I also have global pass so no need to take off shoes...when flying out of The USA...I always pay for fast track when traveling out of foreign countries that has it,and it's included if flying Business class...My only problem is my wife who never listen to me,so i always go in a different line..I never travel with my laptop,because i have no need for it,my cell phone and small tablet does it all...People has no common sense,even the older folks lost it...i see them taking out their wallets,jewelery,watches,passport and just laying it in the bin...they just as well can open their carry on and put it inside.
